At Randlay Primary School and Nursery, children can choose between a freshly cooked school dinner or a school packed lunch.
Meals should be paid for in advance, via ParentPay, or are free for children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2.

Free School Meals and Pupil Premium
Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals if your family is on a low income and receives a qualifying benefit.
All children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 automatically receive Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM)—this does not depend on your income.
Even if your child receives UIFSM, or you do not want them to have school meals, it is still important to apply for Free School Meals if you qualify. This helps the school receive Pupil Premium funding, which can be used to provide extra support and resources for your child’s learning and development.
To check if your child is eligible please click on the link below and complete the Free School Meals application process

Benefits of School Meals
What are the benefits of this scheme?
Better health – a cooked school lunch gives the children essential vitamins and minerals they need to help them grow, develop, fight infection and have the energy to lead a happy and healthy life.
Better achievement and behaviour
There’s a link between what children eat at lunchtime in school, where they eat it and how they focus with their teachers in the afternoon. It teaches them to sit down together, which develops their social skills and encourages them to try new foods.
For more information about the benefits of a healthy school lunch visit the children’s food trust website.
