Autumn Term 2026 – Our topic this term is Neighbourhood Watch!

This Autumn Term, we’re diving into our exciting topic, Neighbourhood Watch!
We will be exploring the neighbourhood we live in and learning about the features we have in our surroundings.

In English this term, we’ll be exploring a rich collection of engaging and imaginative texts, and our first focus is Billy and the Beast. Through our stories, the children will explore a variety of themes and be imaginative with their ideas and writing. These texts will inspire our creativity and curiosity, helping us to develop key reading skills. They will also provide exciting opportunities for writing, as we experiment with storytelling, descriptive language, and recounts based on real and fictional events.

Class Systems

Reading for Pleasure

We encourage children to Read for Pleasure as often as possible at home and at school. In Base 9, we have a lovely, calm reading corner for the children to enjoy reading independently, with an adult or a friend. It is important that children find a love from reading that begins at a young age and continues to flourish throughout their time at Primary School.

Individual Reading

Reading of your individual reading book should be completed at least four times per week and recorded with a comment in the reading diary.  Remember you will be entered into the reading raffle if this has been completed and all of your reading will help us in the weekly reading challenge to be the class to complete the most reads in school.

Homework

We will send homework on a Friday and it needs to be returned by the following Thursday please. This will consist of the weekly spelling focus and learning our KIRF (Key Instant Recall Facts) focus.

Homework will not start until after October Half Term.
