Appointed By: LA
Term of Office: Ends - 19th September 2025
My name is Penny Hustwick and I've been a governor at Randlay primary school for 12 years.
I started off as a parent governor due to my 3 boys all attending Randlay Primary.
I felt that by taking on this role I would be able to give something back to Randlay Primary.
All 3 boys loved school and that was down to the staff and the enriched environment that was provided for them to not only learn in but to develop and grow in.
My role on governors now is Chair and I feel extremely privileged to be in this position, to be working alongside a fantastic, dedicated team of staff, who every day make sure that the children of Randlay enjoy that same enriched experience that my boys had.
If any parent is interested in becoming a governor, then please contact one us and we would be happy to discuss the role with you.

Term of Office: Ends – 31 Aug 2026
I am parish councillor on Hollinswood and Randlay Parish Council. I was proud to be appointed a governor in 2001 and have been pleased to be a member of the governing body almost continuously ever since.
My two children were pupils at Randlay Primary school, it was really the first local institution we were in regular contact with when we moved here 20 years ago, and I was very pleased with the teaching they received. Not only did they learn but benefited from the encouraging, supportive and friendly environment we found in Randlay School. Both developed a level of confidence that allowed them to maximise their education and make their own choices in life.
I think Randlay Primary School is a key part of Randlay and supports the community not just by providing a fine education but in conjunction with other local groups acting as a bridge between them.
I will continue to help the school in any way I can, in my business and professional life I have to make data based rational decisions and believe that I best help Randlay by bringing an analytical approach to the school.

I have lived in Randlay for the last 24 years and have two sons who both attended Randlay Primary school and I feel it gave them both a very good educational grounding. I was a childminder for 25 years, before I was offered a teaching assistant job at Randlay, for the first year I was in nursey before moving to a reception class which I very much enjoy.
It’s such a rewarding job watching the scared young children start in September, to the confident children ready to move on the following year.
I have been a Parish Councilor with Hollinswood and Randlay Parish Council for the last 15 years, I feel that Randlay Primary School is at the heart of our local community and hope that we can develop an even better working relationship.
I hope I can make a positive contribution to the school so the school can continue to remain highly successful and go from strength to strength.
Sarah Neat
Governor Category: Parent Governor
Committee Membership: Full Governing Body
Term of Office: Ends - 31st December 2025
I’m Sarah Neat and I have a daughter who started in Reception at Randlay Primary School in September 2021.
I am currently on a career break to raise my family and have taken the opportunity to use my skills and background in PR and communications, in voluntary roles.
The role of Parent Governor brings a new challenge for me, and I will endeavour to support the school, it’s staff, pupils and parents/carers. I will help uphold standards and challenge when required, as we all strive for continual improvement.
Please do approach me if you have any questions or concerns and we will work together to make the best possible school experience for staff, students and their families.

Term of Office: Ends - 31st December 2025
I am a new parent at Randlay as our family relocated to Randlay (from Oxford) this past summer (2021).
We have two boys who are in years 2 and 4 and a girl who has just started at the school nursery.
We are so grateful for the warm welcome we have received at Randlay, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to give back to the school by serving as a parent governor.
I love getting to know people from all different walks of life and hope I am an approachable and friendly person who will be able to listen carefully to other parents and communicate well with staff and other governors. Please come and chat to me at pickup or send me an email about anything if you would like to!
Before I became a mum, I was a university lecturer in music and so, I am used to being part of a team and helping steer organisations and student learning at a strategic level. More recently, I have organised and run community music projects for refugees in Oxford and am just beginning to do similar work with vulnerable communities here in Telford and Wrekin. I would love to offer the experience and skills I have gained in these roles to help Randlay to continue to help each child to flourish in all aspects of their learning.
Claire Nickless
Governor Category: Co-opted Governor
Committee Membership: Full Governing Body
Term of Office: Ends - 16th May 2026
I feel incredibly honoured to introduce myself as a co-opted governor here at Randlay and look forward to working with the rest of the governing body and staff team.
I have always had close links with the school starting as a pupil in the 80’s. My mother was a member of the governing body for many years and my children were/are pupils; the youngest being in her final term of Year 1 (2022).
I was so incredibly relieved when she was offered a place at Randlay as we do not live in catchment and although I had viewed other local primary schools, I do not feel that any came close in comparison. Randlay felt like ‘home’. I love the inclusive environment that the children experience and the nurturing and encouraging approach to their learning and ensuring that they face and overcome adversity.
Having previously served as a staff governor at a local secondary school, I feel that it is now time to dedicate my governance knowledge, time and support for this school to the board of governors. I relish the opportunity to finally become a part of the Randlay family and to be able to give something back.
I see my role as Governor as very much about supporting the Head Teacher, her staff and the children in achieving and maintaining best academic standards whilst encompassing the school’s 6 key values which ultimately means that the whole school community is ‘working together as one’.

My name is Amy and I am very pleased to be joining the school governors.
I have recently completed my level 3 diploma in specialist support for teaching and learning in schools. I also did a work placement in a nursery so have a very good understanding of the EYSF, and I feel this will help me with getting to grips my new role.
I have three children two of which attend the school and nursery here at
Randlay, so I am always around if you every wish to stop and talk to me.
I am very excited about my new role and will always strive to what is best for
the school it’s pupils and staff.

Himesh Patel
Governor Category: Co-opted

I am excited to join as a co-opted governor, bringing over 15 years of public finance experience, particularly in healthcare, to the role. As a qualified accountant, I aim to leverage my expertise to support the school in making sound financial decisions and help the school achieve its improvement plans. Being an alumnus of Randlay Primary School, which played a significant role in shaping my career, it is an honor to give back to the school. I look forward to collaborating with the teaching staff and my fellow governors to ensure a bright future for the school’s children. If you have any
questions please feel free to let me know.

Laura McCarthy
Governor Category: Parent Governor
Term of Office: Ends - 26th June 2028
I am delighted to be a Parent Governor at Randlay Primary School. As a family new to the school in 2023, we were warmly welcomed by all staff who turned a very anxious time into a positive experience. Our only regret is not moving earlier. Since my son has joined Randlay he has been happier, more focused and challenged academically. He is clearly benefitting from the excellent leadership, teaching and governance at Randlay and I knew early on if the opportunity arose to give something back, I would love to. My daughter is now starting Reception in September and consequently she will be a part of the school community for the next seven years. We couldn’t be happier that her Primary years will be spent at Randlay.
Having been a Teacher, Teacher Governor and Parent Governor in the past, I feel I have some understanding of the demands placed on both school and staff therefore I feel suited to assist and be that critical friend that is needed in the role of Parent Governor.
I am also committed to upholding the key values of Randlay Primary School and the vision of ‘Working Together as One’ is one that I fully support and I am happy to be a strong part of moving forwards.
Lyndsey Parker
I am thrilled to have been invited to be an associate governor at Randlay Primary School. My daughter is currently in nursery and very much enjoys her time here.
I have an extensive background in working and volunteering with children and young families. After university, I taught in China and Taiwan before becoming a teaching assistant in the UK whilst completing my master's degree. I then moved to a career in libraries where I work in the area of children and young people and health and wellbeing. I also volunteer with the Breastfeeding Network and the National Childbirth Trust, as well as running a local group for preschoolers.
I have always been passionate about supporting my community and have been proud to serve as a town and then borough councillor for the last four years. This has given me a wide range of skills and experience in meetings, budgeting, fundraising and much more. I look forward to using my experiences to help the school continue to prosper and to support both parents and pupils.
